Congratulations to seniors Hannah Hulliberger (Horn), Maggie Henry (Flute), and Claire Vachon (Trombone) for their outstanding concerto performances on April 30th. Also congratulations to the Horn Quartet, Clarinet Quintet, Saxophone Quartet, Percussion Ensemble, and the Flensamble for their epic performances at the Concerto Concert. Thank you Wind Ensemble for your enthusiasm in learning more music, performing beautifully, as well as supporting your fellow students. It was a night of musical memories we will cherish forever.
Coming up! Don't miss our final band concert on May 22nd at 7pm in the auditorium. Concert Band, both Symphony Bands, and Wind Ensemble have a lot to be proud of, and they can't wait to show us their final concert.
IMPORTANT! All band members will be returning their uniforms at the end of the concert in the Commons outside of the Auditorium. Please remember to bring a change of clothes to leave the school in after turning in your uniform. Bring your garment bag, and be prepared to note any rips, stains, or other wardrobe malfunctions.
With many hands, the work will be done QUICK! Please consider signing up to help return the uniforms. A sign-up genius will be coming to your inbox soon. Thank you for your support!

The students have been working very hard and we can't wait to see what their final concert of the year will hold for our musical hearts! As a bonus, there will be a performance of the FULL ORCHESTRA meaning the Wind Ensemble will be joining the Symphony Strings on the stage. You won't want to miss it!
Orchestra will also be performing at the 2024 WLN Graduation Ceremony at Eastern Michigan University on Sunday, June 2nd. Thank you Orchestra!
WE WANT YOU!
There are so many ways to get involved with your child's musical passion and here are some current/future needs to make our program successful:
Choir Representative: comes to the booster meetings monthly and reports on all things choir.
Truck Driver: We need someone with a pick up truck that can tow our trailer that houses the students instruments. We need help at just a few events to and from.
Uniform Chair: (shadow for the 2024/2025 school year, then take over): This position fits all band, choir, and orchestra students in their concert uniforms (NOT MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS). You do not need to be able to sew. You can do this volunteer job and still have a daytime job. You are in charge of when fittings happen. You will fit them at the beginning of the school year, and you will be in charge of the return of the uniforms. A few more details involved, but this is the basic overview. SO FUN WITH A FRIEND!!!
2 Marching Band Reps: (Shadow for the 2024/2025 school year, then take over). This is an incredibly important job and without it, the kids don't have band camp. PLEASE consider shadowing our band reps this summer so you can learn what it takes, we need you!
Student & Parent Highlights

Gracie is finishing up her sophomore year and has really enjoyed being in the choir and performing arts at Northern. Gracie says, "I love choir because it gives me a special way of expressing my feelings through art." Thank you for sharing your passion with us, Gracie, and we can't wait to see you in your next performance.

Sam
Sam is a 2024 graduating senior who has really enjoyed her time with the band program. Sam said, "I love band because it makes me feel safe to do whatever I want and makes me feel confident in myself." Thank you, Sam for sharing your musical talents with us the last four years and we wish you all the best after graduation! Congratulations!
Carol with daughters Sam & Gracie
Carol loves volunteering and says, "as a teacher, I see how important parent involvement can be in a student's school life so I have always tried to stay active as a mom when I could. I loved seeing Sam at band camp and making treats. And now, with Gracie involved in theater and choir, I get to see that part of the performing arts too. It always amazes me that my kids are in these activities because I don't have even an iota of musical or performing talent!" Thank you, Carol for your support in our music programs.
If you would like to nominate a student and/or a parent to be featured in our newsletter, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com We are looking for band, choir, and orchestra students and parents that are having fun being involved in our program.
Join us! All are welcome!
Our next Music Booster Meeting is Tuesday, June 4th at 7:00pm in the Choir Room. We can't wait to see you there!
