Hey Juniors...You're Seniors Now!!
As we wish our current seniors goodbye, we're reminded that the band keeps marching on-- and what better way to get hyped than by starting to plan your Senior Poster! Current Juniors that will be seniors this fall have a summer homework project that is due Monday, July 27th: the first day of Home Camp. See below to read the guidelines and start searching Flickr for your favorite photos!
Posters are created by students, parents or families and are proudly displayed along the end zone of the football field on the last day of away camp, on senior night at the game, and at the end of season banquet. Your poster is returned to you at the band banquet.
Specifications:
Size: portrait format, NOT LANDSCAPE.
14” (width) by 22” (height) basically, half of a “standard” sized poster board.
Thin poster: NO FOAM BOARD.
Stickers and decorations should not be “puffy” or raised as they do not go through the laminator.
Poster boards can be any color you wish!
Use photos and flat stickers!
Include:
The poster recognizes your student’s talents and accomplishments highlighting their time in the marching band as well as photos from their childhood, if you wish. The layout and content are up to you but PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD’S FIRST NAME ON THE POSTER.
Your job:
Bring the completed poster on the first day of Home Camp. That’s it! You do not need to laminate it. Please do not be late in turning this project in. Lamination is typically completed on the first day of Home Camp. If you don’t turn it in, we cannot guarantee that your poster will be laminated.
BAND NEWS
Congratulations on another fabulous year of band! We are already looking forward to another year of music when the new school year starts. Seniors, we will miss you, and we hope you go forth with music in your heart forever. Thank you Mrs. H for an awesome year!
CHOIR NEWS
Congratulations on an amazing Pops Concert full of performances from all of the movies we know and love. One of the exciting moments of every Pops Concert is finding out what the musical will be for next year. We are excited to announce that Mama Mia will be coming to WLN in 2027!
Choir will be heading to Cedar Point on May 26th. This is always a fun event for the students to be able to perform at the park and enjoy the rides.
Congratulations seniors, we wish you all the best on your next adventures. Thanks for the beautiful music! Thank you Mrs. Ward for leading the students through an incredible year of music. We are looking forward to many more performances next school year.
ORCHESTRA NEWS
Congratulations to our orchestra students for their beautiful performance at their final concert for the year. Special thank you to Dan Wallis for his incredible leadership and ensuring that the students enjoy their final weeks of orchestra for this school year. Dan is no stranger to our music department as he is a former Knight and has been in integral part of the marching band for years as an instructor, sound engineer, and many other roles that make the logistics of music and students flow perfectly. Thank you again, Dan! You are our music superhero!
HELP WANTED: The Music Boosters is looking for an orchestra representative. This person would give us the inside scoop on all things orchestra. If you know someone who might be interested, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com.
WE WANT YOU!
There are so many ways to get involved with your child's musical passion and here are some current/future needs to make our program successful:
Orchestra Representative: Attends the booster meetings monthly and reports on all things orchestra.
Section Olympic Shadow for Away Camp: Steve and Liz Vachon will be hosting their final Section Olympics this July after 8 seasons. A dream team would include a creative person and an engineer that makes the creative person's wild ideas come true. You will inherit what the band has purchased for the games over the years, the tricks to making sure that even the smaller sections have a shot at winning, and how to run the event smoothly. Ideally, the people that take over will be with the marching band for more than two years.
If you are curious about any of these positions, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com
