HELP WANTED: The Music Boosters is looking for an orchestra representative. This person would give us the inside scoop on all things orchestra. If you know someone who might be interested, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com.
WE WANT YOU!
There are so many ways to get involved with your child's musical passion and here are some current/future needs to make our program successful:
Orchestra Representative: Attends the booster meetings monthly and reports on all things orchestra.
Food Rep Assistant: Our food rep, Aimee Gurski needs a partner in crime to help feed the marching band this season. The students love to eat, and we love to give them food. Join Aimee and be a literal hero in the eyes of 200 teenagers!
Section Olympic Shadow for Away Camp: Steve and Liz Vachon will be hosting their final Section Olympics this July after 8 seasons. A dream team would include a creative person and an engineer that makes the creative person's wild ideas come true. You will inherit what the band has purchased for the games over the years, the tricks to making sure that even the smaller sections have a shot at winning, and how to run the event smoothly. Ideally, the people that take over will be with the marching band for more than two years.
Marching Band Senior Poster Parent- Shadow: This is one of the easiest jobs but has a huge impact, especially for the senior families. This person gets the word out to the senior families about making the poster, you laminate them during home camp, hang them up during the preview show, hang them up for the senior show, then hand them off to the Banquet Chair person to display them at the banquet.
If you are curious about any of these positions, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com
Student & Parent Highlights
Welcome to our New Music Booster VP!
Congratulations to Barb Reed for becoming our Vice President of the Music Boosters! We are very grateful that Barb has stepped into this role because she will be bringing the perspective of an Orchestra, Choir, and soon to be Band parent! She's got it all! Here is a little bit about Barb:
"My name is Barb Reed and my husband, Ron, and I have 3 kids in the music department at Northern and Clifford Smart. Aubrie is in 11th grade and is a part of Chamber Choir and in theater. She also played viola for 3 years at CHS. Elise is in 9th grade and has been playing the cello for 4 years and Austin is at CHS and plays the trombone and was a part of the theater program. I am blessed to serve as Vice President to give my time to a department that has truly enriched our family for so many years!"
Thank you so much, Barb! We are excited to have you join the team!
If you would like to nominate a student and/or a parent to be featured in our newsletter, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com We are looking for band, choir, and orchestra students and parents that are having fun being involved in our program.
