The Marching Band performed one last time at the Walled Lake Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27th. This year, our band had the honor of playing the national anthem during the ceremony following the parade. Thank you to the volunteers who made sure our students were hydrated and happy with a popsicle after their hard work. Congratulations to all for a job well done!

BAND FAMILIES ROCK!
Commerce Elementary puts on a flower sale every year and this year, many band students showed up to help make the sale a success. Here is what Commerce Elementary said about our students:
"A big thank you to all of the volunteers who showed up today and helped unload and sort two trucks full of 1,499 flowers which raised an astonishing $7,323.50 for our PTA/school! We had volunteers of all ages and it was amazing to see all the teamwork happening. Not only did we have our very own Commerce Cougars helping out but students and parents from the Walled Lake Northern Band program and National Honor Society joined us too! This was our best flower sale in the last four years...will we be able to beat this year's numbers next year??"
Band News
Congratulations to Jazz Band, Concert Band, 2nd Hour Symphony Band, 4th Hour Symphony Band and Wind Ensemble for an outstanding night of music during our final concert of the year. We also heard from a few smaller ensembles, and even had our very own senior, Mak Kreps, guest conduct his arrangement of "I'm Not Worried"- One Republic. You all did a wonderful job entertaining us for the evening with your incredible musical talents. Thank you to Mrs. Ward for lending her beautiful voice to the Jazz Band and for making "Blue Skies" just seem a lot more smiley and blue for all of us. What an epic night of music!

The Pops Concert was a smashing success this year! The auditorium was filled with the magical world of Disney with the voices of our incredibly talented singers from the Knight Singers, Advanced Women, and Chambers. There were many solos, duets, trios, and small ensembles that delighted the crowd with songs that gave us the chills. It was a night that we won't forget anytime soon.
During the concert, Mrs. Ward also announced the news that the musical next year will be
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
We can't wait!
Orchestra News
The final concert for Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras went well and the students enjoyed performing for the audience a culmination of a successful year. The evening was lovely, and each senior was honored alongside their family, for all of their hard work over the years.
The Music Boosters would like to personally thank Jessica Maurer for purchasing the senior flowers as a gift to the senior class. We are very grateful for your generosity! Thank you!
Orchestra also performed at the WLN 2024 Graduation at Eastern Michigan University. Thank you students!
WE WANT YOU!
There are so many ways to get involved with your child's musical passion and here are some current/future needs to make our program successful:
Choir Representative: comes to the booster meetings monthly and reports on all things choir.
Truck Driver: We need someone with a pick up truck that can tow our trailer that houses the students instruments. We need help at just a few events to and from.
Uniform Chair: (shadow for the 2024/2025 school year, then take over): This position fits all band, choir, and orchestra students in their concert uniforms (NOT MARCHING BAND UNIFORMS). You do not need to be able to sew. You can do this volunteer job and still have a daytime job. You are in charge of when fittings happen. You will fit them at the beginning of the school year, and you will be in charge of the return of the uniforms. A few more details involved, but this is the basic overview. SO FUN WITH A FRIEND!!!
2 Marching Band Reps: (Shadow for the 2024/2025 school year, then take over). This is an incredibly important job and without it, the kids don't have band camp. PLEASE consider shadowing our band reps this summer so you can learn what it takes, we need you!
Student & Parent Highlights
Amanda and Jamie
Amanda is a board member of the Music Boosters in the role of Treasurer. She enjoys volunteering and this is what she has to say, "I love volunteering because I love marching band. This program allows kids from all grades in our school to come together in a way no other activity does. So many volunteers are needed to make this program as amazing as it is. When we all work together, our kids can perform a beautiful creation that pleases the eye, the ear, and the soul. I like knowing that I can help in one small way to help them be the best on that field.
Jamie is a member of the marching band and she says, "I like marching band because it's a great opportunity to make more friends, have fun making music, and try new things like different instruments."
If you would like to nominate a student and/or a parent to be featured in our newsletter, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com We are looking for band, choir, and orchestra students and parents that are having fun being involved in our program.
The Daily Three Is Coming!
Michigan Daily 3 fundraising event is coming soon. ALL Marching Band families are expected to participate in this fundraiser. If you would like more than your 3, please feel free to reach out to Toni at mstonim@comcast.net. Remember top seller gets $250 credit towards next year's marching band fees.
