I'M A SURVIVOR!
Mrs. H, our band reps, and every single student is so very thankful to our volunteers at home and away camp. You took time out of your busy lives to ensure that our Marching Knights could have a successful and enjoyable camp experience. We also want to say thank you for completing the paperwork that went along with volunteering.
We wanted to recognize our FIVE NIGHTERS and shout them out for rising to the occasion and staying EVERY SINGLE NIGHT OF AWAY CAMP! You showed the kind of bravery, stamina, and sheer grit that would make Dan Campbell say, "Yep, we're going for it on 4th down." You are the the GOAT! Thank you Five Nighters!
Student & Parent Highlights
The Grants: Camp's Official Ouch & Oops Dept.
Our medical dream team coordinators were a husband and wife duo; Kristen and Kevin Grant. They kept the students safe, healthy, hydrated, rested, and bandaged up. They led a team of volunteers to ensure our kids were well taken care of while away from home. We asked Kristen to sum up her experience:
"Being volunteer medics for the Northern Marching Knights has become so much more than just being there when someone gets hurt or needs assistance. We truly enjoy being part of the band and getting to know the students.
One of our favorite things is watching the students grow from the beginning of the season with them learning how to march and figuring out how everything works together, to the point where they’re out on the field pulling off an amazing halftime show.
We also really enjoy the time we get to spend talking with the students and getting to know them. Over the course of the season, you start to learn their personalities, hear about their lives, and get to know the kids who make up the band. And, of course, volunteering gives us an opportunity to be involved in our own children’s high school experience in a way we might not otherwise be able to. It’s a fun way to make memories with them while they’re in high school. We are proud and feel lucky to be part of the Knights family."
Thank you Kristen and Kevin!! We have been so lucky to have you taking such good care of our kids. We appreciate you more than you know.
If you would like to nominate a student and/or a parent to be featured in our newsletter, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com We are looking for band, choir, and orchestra students and parents that are having fun being involved in our program.
