Student & Parent Highlights
Wait a second, that's not a student...
We know this highlight isn't a student or a parent, but instead, our very own Orchestra teacher, Lauren Philips! Lauren is finishing her first year with the WLN family, and so we felt that it was important to properly introduce her to all of you!
About our Orchestra Teacher, Lauren Phillips
Lauren Phillips is soon to complete her eighth year of teaching Orchestra, but only her first year teaching in Walled Lake. After completing her Double Bass Performance and Music Education studies at the University of Michigan, Lauren and her husband Alan moved to Tennessee for one year, then Colorado for six years. Now that Alan is finished with his PhD in Physics, the Phillipses have traded mountains for Great Lakes and couldn't be happier being home! Lauren continues her active performing career in several regional symphony orchestras, and when not playing double bass she enjoys gardening, crochet, and playing with their pet bearded dragon.
Mrs. Phillips is also the director of Orchestras at Walled Lake Central High School and is excited to continue getting connected in the Walled Lake community. She ardently encourages orchestra parents to come to our next WLN Music Booster meeting, Wednesday May 7th!
If you would like to nominate a student and/or a parent to be featured in our newsletter, please contact Liz Vachon at lizvachon@gmail.com We are looking for band, choir, and orchestra students and parents that are having fun being involved in our program.
